This second edition of the Les Paul guitar was introduced in 1954. Called the Gibson Les Paul Custom, this entirely black guitar was an expertly decorated work of art, dubbed 'Black Beauty' It featured a mahogany top, the new Tuneo-matic bridge, and an Alnico-5 magnet in the neck position. In 2007 Gibson released a new edition to celebrate the anniversary of this classic.
